Once he became a priest in 1878, he focused on the poor quarter of the Quartiere Avignose in his city. A few years later he founded the Congregation of Daughters of Divine Zeal and later in 1897 the Congregation of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus, the Priestly Alliance and the Pious Union of Evangelical Relief. He died in 1927 and was canonized on May 16, 2004.
