ABC editor Toni Jiménez, 2021 Agrifood Journalism award from the APAE




The ABC Editor Toni Jimenez has been awarded in the XI edition of the Journalistic Awards convened by the Association of Agrifood Journalists of Spain (APAE). In the “Fruits and Vegetables” category, the jury has decided to award the ex aequo prize to journalists Toni Jiménez and José María Rodríguez. Jiménez is the author of the article
“The new Valencian garden”
, published in the Focus section of ABC on May 11, 2021, while José María Rodríguez is the author of the report “Berry Revolution” published in the supplement Actualidad Económica on April 4, 2021.

Toni Jiménez Picó (Turís, 1995) studied Journalism at the University of Valencia and began his professional career at Radio Valencia Cadena SER, to later join the newspaper’s delegation ABC in the Valencian Community, where it has been covering regional information since 2019.

While, Ana Herrera, from the television program Cuaderno Agrario has been the winner of the «Innovation» category for the report IFAPA advances in research on red fruits broadcast on May 22, 2021 on 7TV Andalucía and Huelva TV.

For its part, Maria Jose Fuenteálamo has won in the «General» Category for the article «The battle of a Quixote against the fake Manchego cheese» published on December 27, 2020 in the newspaper El Español.

In this edition, the jury has increased to ten members, including the president of APAE, Elisa Plumed, the vice president of APAE, Lourdes Zuriaga, the former president of FAPE, Elsa González, the communication manager of FEPEX, Begoña Jiménez, the communication manager of the Meat and Health Platform and member of APAE, José Manuel Álvarez, the press officer of the Fruit Attracion fair, Icíar Martínez de Lecea, the Coordinator for Spain of the United Nations Food Systems Summit, Samuel Juárez, the head of Communication MSD Animal Health, Alberto Fernández , Ana Blanco, Corporate Communications & Social Media Manager of Corteva Agriscience in Iberia, and Jesús Cruz, journalist for Eurocarne and one of the winners of the previous contest. In total, the jury had to evaluate 38 works that were opting for the different categories. The awards aim to promote the development of agri-food journalism under conditions of recognition and prestige.

The awards will be presented on next Thursday, October 7 after a conference on agri-food information that will be held during the Fruit Attraction fair in the Foro Innova hall in Pavilion 8. The conference will begin at 12 noon and the awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at 1:00 p.m. , in which the prize will also be presented to the winner of the I Fruit Attraction Stories of # Agroinspiración Podcast Contest
