Sighting the Island of Benidorm or the imposing Mount Puig Campana sitting in a private Jacuzzi from a terrace located almost 200 meters high (190-odd) can seem a bit like the feeling of being the master of the world. It is one of the “extras” of living in the Intempo, the double tower of tallest residential skyscraper in Europe, an option in which more than 5,000 potential buyers from around the world.
This dream of dominating the heights in one of the most appreciated tourist destinations on the planet – the favorite of the British, for example – costs from 289,000 euros the most affordable apartment of those that are free, up to more than a million the most exclusive. Each floor that is promoted, the price rises 6,000 euros.
Only for rich foreigners, for example, Russians like those who populate this area and others on the Alicante Costa Blanca, in the case of Torrevieja? «No, there are some, but others predominate like the Belgians, Poles and Germans or French», He says Jorge Romagosa, Intempo product manager, although the majority (60%) are Spanish, from Madrid, the Basque Country, Castilla-León and a large group from Albacete.
This week the first lucky ones will arrive to collect their keys and practically half of the imposing colossus has already been sold, with a forecast of completing it in between one and two years. It is enough that the operation is closed with one in ten interested parties registered in its database.
Its attractions are obvious with a simple visit, such as those organized by its promoters between August and September with a daily influx of people. A Spa pool, gym, and cafeteria on the 46th floor, or the countless balconies from which to contemplate the Mediterranean coast without obstacles, with all the other lower skyscrapers.
And, above all, that Cone-shaped ‘diamond’ which joins both towers at the top, with the most spacious (150 square meters) and exclusive apartments, which have only been acquired by Spaniards so far. «There are three different profiles of buyer: the one who makes the investment in several of the ground floors and rents to amortize because he has paid less; the mixed one of the intermediate plants that lives six months and rents the rest of the time; and the one who has fallen in love and is going to live in the diamond or the highest apartments », describes Romagosa.
The overall concept is that of a hotel resort, due to this cohabitation between rental tenants and resident owners, with some special “clauses” determined to guarantee tranquility and coexistence without surprises. Advised by the Hosbec hotel association, in this unique building it is rented for at least three days, “Because the statistics indicate that most incidents occur in stays of one or two days,” justifies the manager of the company.
What’s more, on the ground floor of the building there is an administration office and at the entrances there are sophisticated security systems to control at all times who enters, as well as to whom it is rented.
For those who consider trying the experience for a few days, as in any other resort, it is still difficult to calculate how long the night goes. In any case, at low altitude (“in any case, you also have access to the pool and the upper part”), since to rent in the noble area … “There are no references, there is nothing like it on the market, it can cost any amount», Opina Romagosa.
Apart from these peculiarities, the complex includes another larger swimming pool at street level and four parking spaces for each owner. They were discarded from the original design of the architect Roberto Pérez Guerras a tennis court and some other facilities to gain space, because in a few months, a thousand people will live there and there will be more than 200 hammocks scattered to sunbathe on its terraces.
At the imminent moment of its premiere, it has already broken two records: the height in a residential building and only behind the four towers of Madrid, for professional use, and also the logical one of having the world’s fastest elevators, with a speed of 4.2 meters per second, Finnish technology from the Kone brand.
