The Covid spread has doubled in Aragon in just three weeks. In the In the last seven days, 689 infections have been registered of coronavirus, compared to the 340 cases that were detected three weeks ago, between October 11 and 17.
Transmission of the coronavirus Aragón has shot up 103% since the Pilar holiday weekend, but Zaragoza is among the cities with the lowest incidence. The worst outbreaks are outside the capital. At the moment, the worst situation is in the city of Calatayud, with a cumulative incidence of 169.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in just one week, above the alarm threshold.
After the first week of November, the accumulated incidence has escalated in Aragon, reaching already over 90 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the accumulated 14 days. Exactly 91.8 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the threshold from which the moderate risk level is situated, which is 50 per 100,000 at fourteen days.
Situation by province
In the last week, the spread of Covid has worsened in the provinces of Zaragoza and Teruel, while it has eased in Huesca. In the accumulated of the last seven days, the province of Zaragoza has accumulated 54.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants – a week ago it was 34.8 – and in Teruel they reached 49.2 infections per 100,000, compared to the rate of 37.2 that it registered just a week ago. In the province of Huesca, the accumulated incidence in the last seven days is 39.5 infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
In addition, in the last week three other deaths from Covid have been reported in Aragon. The previous week, 12 were declared. In the month of October, 64 people died in this region from Covid, which left an average of two deaths every 24 hours.
Since the pandemic began, the coronavirus has killed more than 4,100 people in Aragon, according to official statistics from Health and the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Among the regions with the most infections
At the moment, Aragon is one of the autonomous communities with the highest rate of Covid infections, well above the national average. Last Friday, the official report of the Ministry of Health already indicated that Aragon is the fourth autonomous region with the greatest spread of the coronavirus in the last two weeks, only behind the Basque Country, Navarra and the Balearic Islands.
Regarding the number of hospitalized, Aragón reported on Sunday that it had 81 patients with Covid admitted, 14 of them in intensive care units (ICU).
