Vienna’s finance minister makes a “clear plea for Christian Lindner”

From the point of view of Austria’s Finance Minister Gernot Blümel, FDP boss Christian Lindner would be the best choice for the finance department in a future traffic light coalition made up of the SPD, the Greens and the FDP.

Vienna – “I hope that the traditional German attitude that we need stable finances in order to secure growth and prosperity in Europe in the long term,” said the conservative flower of the “world” (Monday). “From the people currently in question, that would be a clear plea for Christian Lindner.” The chairman of the German Liberals has signaled his right to this office. Another possible finance minister is Greens co-boss Robert Habeck.

Blümel’s conservative ÖVP is forming a coalition with the Austrian Greens in Vienna. In the EU, his party is resisting the relaxation of the debt rules in the Stability and Growth Pact for the euro zone. Both ÖVP and FDP advocate stricter controls on fiscal rules. (dpa)
