Ministry of Health advocates a new conference of prime ministers

In view of the corona situation, the Federal Ministry of Health is promoting a new Prime Minister’s Conference.

Berlin – This could send a “common, strong signal from the federal and state governments,” it said on Tuesday in ministry circles in Berlin. It is about a unified message. The past has shown that whenever there has been uniform communication between the top representatives of politics, people have changed their behavior again. The number of currently 17 million unvaccinated adults is too large and is putting the health system under pressure. “At the moment the momentum is increasing far, far too drastically,” it said.

A nationwide uniform framework for 2G rules is advocated in the ministry with a view to a possible conference of ministers presidents, i.e. for restricted access to events only for vaccinated or convalescent people. Restaurants or event organizers can use such concepts of their own accord, but 2G can also be ordered by the respective federal state, which some federal states are already doing. Union politicians such as the chairman of the Minister-Presidents’ Conference (MPK), the North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU), or Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) have been pushing for a federal-state meeting for days to discuss further steps to contain the pandemic speak. Other prime ministers had initially rejected the move. (dpa)
