The Provincial Council of Palencia and the City Council of Villamuriel de Cerrato have placed this Tuesday the first stone of the future Sports Complex of the town, with a total investment of 1.4 million euros, where 25 percent will be paid by the provincial institution.
The action will take place in the current Soccer Field ” Rafael Vázquez‘, which uses as changing rooms an old and obsolete building executed in the 70s by a group of fans and members of the municipality’s Football Club. The new building replaces existing locker rooms and enclosures at present, which must be demolished prior to the beginning of the works.
The new building is projected as a autonomous building, isolated from the rest of the buildings, adjusting to the dimensions of the football field, situated in the west orientation, at a distance of ten meters from the lateral line that currently configures the playing field. The functional block of gymnastics, located to the north, will include three gyms, two of them convertible to a larger one, lobby with access control and office, changing rooms for women and men, material warehouse, facilities room, physiotherapy room and ticket offices with covered portico to control the access of spectators to the new covered bleachers with space for 400 spectators.
Social and sports betting
«It is a historic day for Villamuriel de Cerrato and today a new page of the book of the history of our municipality is being written “, the councilor pointed out to Ical, Roberto Martin, who has detailed that Villamuriel is the municipality with the highest demographic growth in the province of Palencia in the last 40 years, where 45 percent of the population is under 40 years of age and 27 percent of its neighbors are under 27 years of age. “We are an oasis and in Spain, misnamed, emptied.”
For her part, the president of the Provincial Council, Angeles Armisén, has stated that it is a project that «generates illusion in a population who practices and lives sport in different disciplines on a daily basis. An action that becomes a necessity for Villamuriel, being of “vital importance for the citizens of the town and the Cerrato region.”
«We are going to continue betting on the services that we call third generation, such as culture, sports or other activities requested by rural residents. If there is something that educates in values and encourages healthy life and health care, it is the practice of sports ”, he asserted. For this reason, he has emphasized that will continue to bet on “that equality of opportunities”, through an infrastructure “for the people, but also for the people of Palencia and the sport of Palencia,” Armisén clarified.
