The Toledo doctor Luis Rodríguez Padial, new president of the Spanish Society of Cardiology



The Toledo cardiologist Luis Rodriguez Padial, team leader of the Cardiovascular Medicine and Prevention Clinic, is the new president-elect of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. This organization aims to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, in addition to promoting a better state of cardiovascular health in civil society. To do this, it is developing processes and procedures to reduce the variability of clinical practice actions, contribute to generating knowledge and collaborate in improving the quality of care, counting on the collaboration and scientific, technical and institutional support of both the professionals themselves as well as health service managers.

It currently has more than 7,000 members and carries out agreements, international projects, scientific research and publications.

The doctor Luis Rodriguez Padial has a long history in the field of Cardiology. Since 1995 he has been the head of the Cardiology Service at the Virgen de la Salud Hospital and runs his own Clinic. He is also a member of the Castilla-La Mancha Academy of Medicine. He graduated in medicine from the University of Granada and specialized in Cardiology at the Ramón y Cajal Hospital in Madrid. He completed specific training in echocardiography (Clinical Fellowship) at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, Boston, United States. He is a Doctor of Medicine from the Complutense University and has completed a Master’s Degree and a Doctorate in Education from UNED.

He has worked in various public hospitals and private centers: Virgen de la Salud Hospital (Toledo), Ramón y Cajal Hospital (Madrid), University General Hospital (Murcia), Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston), Virgen de las Nieves Hospital (Granada), Tres Culturas Hospital (Toledo), Hospital de Sanitas-La Zarzuela (Madrid) and Hospital San Francisco de Asís (Madrid).

In addition, he conducts research in different fields of cardiovascular pathology: cardiovascular proteomics, clinical cardiology, arterial hypertension, coronary heart disease and valvular heart disease. Finally, he is the author of nine books on electrocardiography, echocardiography, preventive cardiology, and clinical cardiology.
