The CDU lost almost 15,000 members in the federal election year. According to party information on Tuesday, December 31, it still had 384,204 people in its ranks – after 399,110 at the end of 2020.

Berlin – The CDU lost almost 15,000 members in the federal election year. According to party information on Tuesday, December 31, it still had 384,204 people in its ranks – after 399,110 at the end of 2020. That corresponded to a decrease of around 3.7 percent. In the previous year, this was around 1.7 percent.

According to the CDU, almost three quarters (73.4 percent) of the members are male and a good quarter (26.6 percent) are female. Among the new entrants to the party, women are represented at 28.8. The average age of the members is 60.8 years. The average age for new entrants is 43 years. (dpa)
