Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. has admitted to having made a false statement in his statement for the abuse report of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.
Munich – Pope Benedict XVI. Contrary to what was initially claimed, I took part in a meeting in 1980 as Archbishop of Munich and Freising at which a priest was discussed who had repeatedly been conspicuous for the sexual abuse of children. This was announced by Benedikt’s private secretary Georg Gänswein on Monday in a press release that the portal Vatican News and the Daily Mail Foundation published. That priest was later reinstated as a pastor in Bavaria. (dpa)
