The Teatro de Rojas de Toledo starts the season on February 18 and will host 54 new shows until June 11




A total of 54 shows of music, dance, theater, opera and performing arts diverse will pass through the Rojas Theater and El Greco Auditorium in Toledo during the first half of the year, as well as actors and actresses of the stature of Blanca Portillo, Aitana Sánchez Gijón, Carlos Sobera, Carmen Paris, Javier Gutiérrrez or Pere Ponce, among others.

The mayor of Toledo, Milagros Tolón, has highlighted that the activity of the theater in the last two years has shown that culture is safe, in addition to thanking the technical staff of the Rojas and the public that attend each performance for the responsibility shown in this pandemic period. «As has been demonstrated with the implementation of the different access protocols, culture is safe; so that it continues to be so, in the Municipal Theater of Rojas the protocols for access and exit of the premises continue to be applied in accordance with the health authority, “he explained.

Programming also includes companies such as BNational Dance Hall, Yllana, the National Drama Center, the National Ballet of Spain, the Lyric Opera Company 2001 or the National Opera of Moldova, among other. “We are facing a program designed and prepared to satisfy all the tastes and preferences of the citizens of Toledo, which covers a wide and varied range of genres and styles,” said the mayor, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture, Teo García, and by the director of the theatre, Paco Plaza, in addition to thanking the institutions and entities that collaborate with the Municipal Theater of Rojas and make this program possible, such as Performing Arts of Castilla-La Mancha, the Spanish Network of Theatres, the Platea Program of the Ministry of Culture and Eurocaja Rural.

Theater, education and culture

For his part, the municipal head of Culture has highlighted that the Municipal Theater of Rojas is “the flagship of culture in the city”, as well as a “transformer of consciences” and a necessary tool for the projection of issues linked to values “vital” as equality. The program is organized around three cycles, such as the Contemporary Theater Cycle, the Family Theater and Dance Cycle and the Music Cycle, in addition to the specific programming of the small room ‘El Cafetín’ and other shows outside of the cycle .
