The works to remodel the Alameda de Sigüenza Park will begin in less than a month




The Government of Castile-La Mancha The remodeling and rehabilitation works of the Alameda Park in the Guadalajara town of Sigüenza will begin in less than a month.

The President of Castile-La Mancha, Emiliano Garcia-Page, has presided over the signing of the contract for the execution of the works of this park signed by the Minister of Public Works, Nacho Hernando, the president of the Diputación de Guadalajara, José Luis Vega, and the mayor of Sigüenza, María Jesús Merino. The event was also attended by the President of the Regional Courts, Pablo Bellido; the delegate of the Board in Guadalajara, Eusebio Robles; and the general director of Territorial Planning and Urbanism, José Antonio Carrillo.

In this context, the Minister of Public Works, Nacho Hernando, has highlighted that “we are going to be able to start talks now for the start of this work, which will start in less than a month, and that will allow us to carry out a comprehensive intervention to deal with current needs by providing solutions to existing problems , but respecting, maintaining and recovering the essence and cultural significance of the park».

Hernando has reported that the works will be carried out by a company from the province of Guadalajara and have a budget of 1.5 million euros, being financed 30 percent by the Provincial Council and 70 percent by the regional government.

Likewise, the person in charge of Public Works has remarked that the Government has included Sigüenza as one of the candidates to become World Heritage City and has ensured that «the public institutions of Castilla-La Mancha are capable of competing on an international stage when it comes to proposing ambitious projects that have to attract tourism, have to rehabilitate or recover our essence and our heritage; and, at the same time, that this serves to generate employment, equality, opportunities, for all the citizens of Castilla-La Mancha».

The Alameda de Sigüenza Park remodeling project aims to enhance its main function as a longitudinal promenade and improve the interior route through the layout of an accessible and paved itinerary, integrated into the park and linking the different access points; favor the growth of vegetation and increase the tree mass to provide this space with greater shade; make the surroundings of the park more friendly, integrating the adjacent road and, at the same time, turning the side street into a transition space between the two; give content to degraded spaces, reorganizing functions and rooms as well as replacing and improving facilities

In addition, the restoration of existing elements of value and the placement of new elements of urban furniture will be carried out, also acting on the paving, vegetation, children’s equipment and urban furniture, fountains and park facilities, such as irrigation and lighting.

The integration of the adjacent road is also sought by paving with cobblestones and eliminating the parking area, as well as in the immediate surroundings of the Placita de las Cruces and the lower square or Jardinillo.

Likewise, the existing kiosks are recovered and restored and, in addition, a small building will be created that will house new toilets, warehouses and facilities.
