More people took part in the protests against government measures to contain the corona pandemic last Monday than two weeks earlier.

Berlin – More people took part in the protests against government measures to contain the corona pandemic last Monday than two weeks earlier. According to information from the federal states, a total of around 350,000 people gathered nationwide on Monday of this week to demonstrate against contact restriction measures and a possible vaccination requirement, a spokesman for the Federal Ministry of the Interior said on Thursday. Around 15,000 demonstrators took part in rallies directed against these protests on the same day.

For comparison: According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, more than 260,000 people nationwide took part in corona protests on January 10th, according to information from the federal states. The ARD magazine Contrasts first reported on the increase.

According to information from the German Press Agency, the increase in the number of protesters was not recorded in all federal states. According to a spokesman for the authorities, the number of participants in Brandenburg, for example, has recently remained relatively stable. On January 10, it was just over 26,000. A week later, around 25,700 opponents of the anti-corona measures gathered in Brandenburg. Around 25,200 of them took to the streets there on Monday of this week. (dpa)
