The associations included in the Forum of Primary Care Physicians of the Valencian Community (FOMAP-CV) will not attend this Friday the presentation of the plan that the Ministry of Health has prepared to improve the situation of health centers in the coming months. The professionals consider that they have not been taken into account in “the drafting and/or evaluation of the document” nor do they know its content.
In a statement, they criticize that they have been summoned to the act without information and “with less than 72 hours in advance” after a change of agenda -in principle they were summoned on Thursday-, despite the fact that the minister Ana Barceló announced her intention to introduce that «Strategic Framework for Primary and Community Care 2022-2023» last week during his appearance in the Valencian Parliament.
Both the four scientific societies of Paediatrics, as well as the College of Physicians of Alicante, the Valencian Society of Family and Community Medicine and the CESM-CV union regret that “at the present time, with the collapse of consultations and the poor replacement staff», the participation of doctors is not facilitated electronically.
In the same way, they ask the Generalitat to grant them “enough time to assess it and be able to make the relevant claimsso that its implementation is as efficient as possible and thus be able to solve the problems» of primary care in our Community.
Precisely, this Thursday Barceló acknowledged at a press conference that the measures that have been applied so far in health centers -under strong pressure due to the outbreak of infections from the sixth wave of the coronavirus- “have alleviated something”, but “ evidently they are not the solution in such an extraordinary situation.
In fact, the head of Health has admitted that at the moment “we cannot implement other measures” due to the lack of resources since “the bags, both of doctors and nurses, they are sold out not only the extraordinary ones, but also in each of the departments ».
However, both she and the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, have recalled the actions that have been carried out to alleviate the burden borne by Primary Care. Among them, the extension of the 2,580 covid reinforcement contracts, the automatic extension of chronic treatments, the agreement to carry out tests in pharmacies, the notification of diagnostic tests through SMS or the enabling of the web to process cancellations and registrations of positives.
