The films ‘Mothers parallels’ and ‘The good boss’, and the series ‘Venga Juan’, with three awards each, have been the big winners of the 2022 Feroz Awards, which in its ninth edition have been held in the city from Saragossa.
‘Parallel Mothers’ has won the statuettes for best supporting actress in a film, with Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, best poster, by Javier Jaén, and best original music (Alberto Iglesias). ‘The good boss’ has been the best comedy film, has won the award for best leading actor in a film, with Javier Bardem, and the best screenplay, for Fernando León de Aranoa.
‘Venga Juan’, created by Diego San José, has emerged as the best comedy series; In addition, he has collected two more awards, the best leading actor, with Javier Cámara, and best supporting actress, with María Pujalte.
For yet another edition, masks and safety distances have been the indisputable complements of the attendees, although as a novelty the public has had the opportunity to come to greet the stars of the cinema and the series on the red carpet, which has been installed in Plaza Miguel Merino, right next to the Multipurpose Room. Since early in the afternoon, fans of all ages have not wanted to miss the event.
In addition, from 7:30 p.m., the event has been able to be followed in ‘streaming’ on the YouTube Channel of the Awards, in which David Martos has interviewed the nominees and has made a cinephile analysis of the candidates.
As host land, Zaragoza and Aragonese cinema have been represented by the directors Pilar Palomero and Paula Ortiz, the actress Luisa Gavasa, or the film critic Luis Alegre, among other faces.
The event has been presented by the film director Nacho Vigalondo and the comedian Paula Púa, who have used their characteristic acid humor to criticize the situation that the Spanish audiovisual sector is going through. In addition, the role of fighting for women’s equality in society and in industry, and mental health care have been some of the most repeated claims on stage.
Popular faces such as Inma Cuesta, Elena Irureta, Ane Gabarain, Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi have also participated in the gala. On the other hand, from the institutional sphere, the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, was present; the Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz; and the mayor and deputy mayor of Zaragoza, Jorge Azcón and Sara Fernández.
On behalf of the organization of the Feroz, the president of the Association of Cinematographic Reporters of Spain (AICE), María Guerra, has requested a return to face-to-face interviews and press conferences, and has highlighted the “quality” of the city of Zaragoza, which ┬has an impressive cinephile».
In addition, in a humorous key, a “tribute” has been made to the people “who have lost the Ave”, including figures who have experienced outstanding anecdotes and/or controversies throughout the year, such as Miguel Bosé or Úrsula Corbero.
In the case of feature films, in addition to those already mentioned, ‘Maixabel’, produced by Koldo Zuazua, Juan Moreno and Guillermo Sempere, has received the 2022 Feroz Award for best dramatic film and best supporting actor (Urko Olazabal).
Rodrigo Cortés has been recognized with the best direction for ‘El amor en su lugar (Love Gets a Room)’; and the best leading actress was Petra Martínez (‘Life was that’).
In the series section, the best dramatic series was ‘Cardo’, by Claudia Costafreda and Ana Rujas, the latter also receiving the award for best leading actress in a series. The best supporting actor of a series has been Enric Auquer (‘Perfect life’).
Likewise, the Feroz Cinetools Award for the best trailer has been won by Miguel Ángel Trudu, for ‘La granny’. In the documentaries and independent film section, the Feroz Outburst of Fiction, for ‘Sedimentos’, by Adrián Silvestre and the Feroz Outburst of Non-Fiction Award, for ‘Espíritu santo’, directed by Chema García Ibarra.
Finally, Cecilia Bartolomé, who has received the Feroz de Honor 2022, has made the entire public stand up to applaud her for being a pioneer in the sector, vindictive and defender of freedom and equality for women with her cinema.
