Music, dance, theater and circus. Culture, in all its expressions, will go around Madrid every weekend. Renowned and emerging artists in different disciplines will tour the neighborhoods of the capital throughout this year, within the
programming 21Districts, to bring art to every corner for free. This 2022, the agenda seeks to “expand the artistic lines developed to date, reinforcing the multidisciplinary nature, incorporating new scenic spaces and expanding the audiences it is addressed to,” they explain from the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports, which heads the delegate Andrea Levy (PP).
To this end, in the coming months, among others, the concerts of Travis Birds (January 29 in Latin); Lichis (February 11 in San Blas-Canillejas, April 1 in Arganzuela and December 3 in Puente de Vallecas); Montserrat Martí Caballé –daughter of the legendary Spanish soprano– and louis santana in a candlelight concert (February 25 in Chamartín and February 26 in Villa de Vallecas); saxophonist and singer Antonio Lizana (October 1 in Latin); Fetén Fetén –aimed at family audiences– (February 12 in Villaverde and April 9 in Tetuán), and Betina Quest (February 19 in Center).
Within the framework of the performing arts, in addition to the latest work of La Pharmacy (February 5 in Arganzuela and June 25 in Puente de Vallecas), choreographers will participate in the program Javier Martin (with ‘Figures of the threshold’ on April 29 in San Blas-Canillejas and ‘Teorema’ on April 30 in Latina) or the Psycho Ballet by Maite León (May 6 in San Blas-Canillejas).
In theater, the billboard has the participation of Sergio ‘Wonder’ Martinez, a former professional boxer converted today into a comedian and actor. Based on the play by Alfredo Megna and directed by Adrian Navarro, in ‘Bengal, a life in twelve rounds’, the exluchador gives life to seven characters. Moratalaz on April 23 and Hortaleza on October 14 will host this fast-paced work.
Piedrahita in San Blas
In the circus, companies like Cows, who arrives with his show ‘Ye orbayu’ on March 25 in the Retiro district. In this edition, the consistory will continue with the commitment to other lines of work already started in 2021 such as support for young art, which last year materialized in the creation of La Sub25, a festival that will celebrate its second edition in 2022. This event continues to have as its main objective “to promote and disseminate the work of young artists up to 25 years of age, encouraging them to show their proposals in professional representation spaces,” they indicate from the Department of Culture . The Sub25 will be held on July 9 and 10 in Villa de Vallecas. Interested participants who meet the requirements can register until May 28 at 11:59 p.m. For the same purpose, a contest has also been called to design the festival’s logo. Also aimed at designers from 18 to 25 years old (both included) who reside in Madrid, they can send their proposals until June 17.
