The Green health politician Janosch Dahmen currently sees no room for easing the corona measures.
Berlin – Because of the new omicron subtype BA.2, it is “possible that the trend reversal could be delayed by several weeks,” Dahmen told the newspapers of the Funke media group on Tuesday. The subtype is expected to postpone the peak of the current wave. “In view of BA.2, comprehensive easing in the next four weeks is rather unrealistic.”
“Everything we know about BA.2 so far suggests that the number of infections may not decrease in February,” said Dahmen. Despite the still high number of infections, possible easing is currently being discussed, for example in retail. The background is also that the omicron variant tends to lead to a milder course of the disease.
