Rostock – About a month after a death threat against Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) in the messenger service Telegram, the State Criminal Police Office searched the house of a suspect on Thursday. The suspect is a 56-year-old, according to the LKA and the Rostock public prosecutor’s office.

The man is said to have written in a Telegram chat group on January 3: “She will be picked up, either with the patrol car in a jacket or with the hearse, no matter how she is picked up.” The post is attributed to the lateral thinker scene in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which criticizes the corona measures. The Rostock left politician Steffen Bockhahn had made the post public, later the message was obviously deleted.

During the searches on Thursday in the Rostock district, data carriers were secured, which are now being evaluated. The statement from the LKA and the public prosecutor’s office said that insulting and defaming people in political life could be punished with imprisonment for up to three years or a fine. For tactical reasons, however, no further information was given on the specific investigations. (dpa)
