Robles: «Political and ethical obligation»

The Minister of Defense, Margaret Robles, pointed out this Monday that the international community, including Spain, has a “political and ethical” obligation with Afghanistan so that all people who want to leave the country “can do so”, despite the fact that international troops are about to complete withdrawal from the country while many Afghan collaborators remain there.

“You cannot look the other way and Spain is in that group of countries” that has assumed this obligation, Robles assured in an interview on Onda Cero, collected by Europa Press.

Thus, he has indicated that ‘Impossible to know’ the credibility of the Taliban, who have announced that they will allow all citizens who wish to leave the country, but that both the United States and NATO and international organizations have to “compromise” with these Afghans.

Robles has announced that next Thursday, at the European Union Defense Ministers’ meeting, to be held in Slovenia, he will raise this “demand with the Afghan people” and in particular with “women and girls.”
