On a day in which good weather has accompanied the events that the Civil Guard has organized on the occasion of the feast of its patron, the Virgin of Pilar. The vice president of Castilla-La Mancha, José Luis Martínez Guijarro has presided over the ceremony in Cuenca from where he wanted to show his support for the Civil Guard, highlighting his effort “365 days a year” to ensure the safety of all citizens, and especially in our rural environment. Guijarro attended the event that was held at the «La Hípica» fairgrounds.
Martínez Guijarro has pointed out that the organization of this event again is “one more example of the steps to return to normality”, although with the precautions recommended by the health authorities. In fact, this year in the case of Cuenca, the traditional parade will not be held. “It is always a pleasure to accompany you,” he concluded.
For its part, in Real city, the ceremony was attended by numerous people and representatives of the different political parties and civil society. In the act 38 decorations were awarded for all those who have struggled during this time of pandemic. The two deceased officers were also remembered.
The Chief of the Civil Guard, Juan Antonio Valle, has shown his pride for all the men and women who have been “working day by day, giving tranquility and security to the population” during this time so difficult and developing tasks that are not his usual competence, such as the distribution of food, medicine or control to prevent the spread of the virus. In addition, he has highlighted the creation of new units such as “Pegasus”, for area security, another for the fight against gender violence and against cybercrime. The upcoming addition of 92 new agents has also been announced. Valle has conveyed to those present the message about the institution “which generates great trust in society, thanks to the values of excellence, reliability and sacrifice.”
On the other hand, the subdelegate of the Government in Ciudad Real, María Ángeles Herreros, has highlighted the intense work of the Civil Guard during the health crisis, being “the eyes, feet and hands of many people.” He also pointed out the excellent work carried out by the honorable and that allows Ciudad Real to be classified as “one of the safest provinces in Spain.”
Among other recognitions, two silver crosses have been awarded to Manuel Selas González, deputy director general of international security affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and to Captain Francisco Javier Jiménez Bañales, as well as a medal for Road Safety .
In Albacete this October 12 was celebrated with a simple act, presided over by the mayor Emilio Saez, who has qualified as essential the work carried out by the Civil Guard to guarantee the safety of the people of Albacete and, which, in collaboration with the rest of the Security Forces and Bodies, extends to the districts. He also highlighted Albacete’s close relationship with the Armed Forces, through the National Training Center (Cenad), the Los Llanos Air Base and Wing 14 and the Defense Sub-delegation.
In this sense, Emilio Sáez has once again reaffirmed the collaboration of the Albacete City Council, through its Local Police, with the Albacete Civil Guard Command, as well as with the rest of the Security Forces and Corps to guarantee security of all citizens.
On the day of the feast of the Virgen del Pilar, the councilor attended the mass officiated by the bishop of the Diocese of Albacete, Ángel Fernández Collado, held in the Cathedral; later participating in the ceremony of the imposition of decorations carried out in the Command of the Civil Guard of Albacete, where the Crosses of Military Merit, the Silver Cross of the Civil Guard, the Crosses of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guard have been delivered for the performance of a service, the Crosses of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guard Patron of the Corps; concluding with a heartfelt tribute to those who died in the act of service, in which a laurel wreath has been deposited on a monolith installed in the courtyard of the Comandancia.
