The hotel management Hosbec has invited the municipalities of the Valencian Community to imitate the support measures for the sector promoted in Madrid, due to the crisis of the coronavirus. Specifically, it has requested bonuses or subsidies corresponding to fifty percent of the IBI, IAE and garbage tax, as well as one hundred percent of the fords and public road reservation rate.

In his opinion, City of Madrid «Has made the saying of ‘wanting is power’ a reality and has not turned a deaf ear to the demands of the capital’s hotel sector, but has, with a speed and efficiency worthy of admiration, has urgently collected a complete catalog of fiscal and tax measures to help the hotel sector to go through its most important crisis ”.

“If the Madrid City Council has been able to do it, the rest of the municipalities can also do it, without being able to claim legal prohibitions, processing difficulties or any other pilgrim excuse, like the one we could read last week from a municipal official who ‘ you can’t lower taxes because you have to pay aid ‘, which would sound like a joke if it weren’t for the fact that complicated reality is always more than fiction, ”Hosbec continued.

For this reason, they have asked to adopt “urgently” measures such as the bonus or grant to all hotel establishments and tourist accommodation corresponding to fifty percent of the amount paid as IBI for the years 2020 and 2021.

It has also claimed the bonus or subsidy to all hotel establishments and tourist accommodation corresponding to fifty percent of the amount paid as IAE for the years 2020 and 2021.

Likewise, it has requested the bonus or subsidy to all hotel establishments and tourist accommodation corresponding to fifty percent of the amount paid as ‘garbage tax’ for the years 2020 and 2021.

Also, Hosbec has requested a one hundred percent reduction in the rates for fords or public space reservations for parking lots or loading and unloading of travelers linked to hotel establishments also for the years 2020 and 2021.

“Local administrations are the ones that have the least resources and least measures to support the tourism sector since the crisis began due to the Covid-19. A situation as exceptional as this must be responded to with equally exceptional measures for a sector that returns so much wealth to its own society ”, he pointed out.

In the same line, Hosbec He added that this crisis has served to “evaluate and consider in its real dimensions how important tourism is in our society.” “Tourism has been providing wealth, employment, growth and prosperity for 65 years and at the moment it needs a small part of this contribution to be returned to guarantee its future viability”, he specified.

“The fiscal autonomy of the municipalities to agree on this type of aid will also serve to visualize who is supporting their productive fabric and who is turning their back on a sector in need of all the help possible at this time. It is the opportunity for each city council to take its option for the future regarding tourism ”, he concluded.
