Mr. Blues Festival », returns this Saturday 16 with a commitment to women and social inclusion




One of the most established musical events in the regional capital is back. It is about «Mr. Blues Festival 2021 », which in its III edition change scenery and is installed in the enclosure fair of the polygon neighborhood (Santa María de Benquerencia), with a poster that bets on women, inclusion, the environment and the circular economy. The event will opens at 12.00 with a series of children’s workshops and storytelling.

This was explained this Wednesday during the presentation of the festival by the councilor for Social Services and president of the Polígono Participation Council, Ana Abellán, which has been accompanied by the president of the Cultural Association Mr. Blues Festival, Patxi Rodríguez, and the director of the Festival, Budy García.

Ana Abellán explained that this festival was born within the framework of the last legislature as a proposal by the young people of the city through Participatory Budgets and Due to its success, the initiative has been running since 2018 consolidating “not only as another music festival but as a day of family leisure in the open air that bets on young talent from Toledo, the socio-occupational inclusion of people with different abilities and equality with the participation of prominent female voices.”

This year’s novelties include the participation of women with the presence on stage of Lucía Santiago (1:00 p.m.) and Susan Santos, a benchmark in the genre and who will be in charge of closing the festival at 11:00 p.m.

In addition, the Down Toledo Association will have an exhibitor with the festival merchandising prepared in its Employment Center. The proceeds from this point of sale will go on this occasion to Afannes, the Association for Children with Special Educational Needs of Toledo.

As for the line-up, in addition to the female presence, the performances of “Smiling Jack Smith” (2.30pm); «Del Toro. Blues Band »(5:00 pm); «Iker Piris. His dual electras »(7:00 pm); and Mike Sánchez (9:00 p.m.).

Finally, both Patxi Rodríguez and Budy García thanked the City Council and the rest of the collaborators for their support and sponsorship and have valued the axes on which the festival is based: sustainability, in order to change habits so that «the planet of sustaining in some way “or the commitment with the environment,” it will be a festival free of plastics “.
