New legal victory for Barcelona against Santos

Barcelona adds a new judicial victory after the TAS has given him the reason in the fight with him Santos for the transfer to Inter of the footballer Gabigol. The Brazilian club will have to pay 2.9 million euros to the Catalans, as reported this Thursday morning by Cadena SER. The TAS, in this way, has recognized that Barcelona had a right of first refusal on Gabriel Barbosa, a condition that both clubs agreed to when Neymar arrived at the Camp Nou. It should be remembered that the dispute over Gabigol started in 2016, when the footballer signed with Inter Milan. Then Barcelona decided to go to court because they understood that Santos had not respected the right of first refusal and had sold the player without respecting the agreed deadlines. According to the agreement, the Barça club had three days to match the offer that reached Santos from the front. Although the paulistas reported on the 30 million euro proposal that Inter had made, they did not respect those three days contractually agreed.

This is a new judicial victory after favorable rulings in recent months, including those referring to Mediapro, MCM or Neymar. In the first, the court ordered the audiovisual company to pay Barcelona the amount of 1,252,034 euros for various consideration and pending settlements. In the second, the Supreme Court agreed with the Catalan club and did not admit the cassation and extraordinary appeals for procedural infringement presented by the MCM company, chaired by Antonio García-Valdecasas and represented by Mario Conde. MCM claimed almost one hundred million euros from Barcelona (99,306,116.98) for an alleged breach of contract to commercially exploit the facade of the Masía.

Regarding the trial with Neymar, the justice gave the reason to the club for the bonus agreed for the renewal of his contract. Neymar and Barcelona went to the ordinary court to report the case when the player decided to sign for PSG after paying the termination clause. While Neymar demanded the payment of 43.6 million euros, the club demanded that the player return him 6.7 million for that concept. Justice agreed with Barcelona and completely rejected the player’s claim.
