The Councilor for Mobility and Citizen Security, Juan José Pérez del Pino, has reported on the most relevant interventions carried out by the Local Police of the Toledo City Council within the framework of the current socio-health regulations due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The mayor explained how every Monday at a press conference they have registered nine complaints for breaching the mandatory use of a mask and another nine for alcohol consumption on public roads, that is, for bottle.

To these figures, we must add the 15 complaints that local police officers They have brought citizens who without just cause exceeded the curfew hours established by the Autonomous Community under the state of alarm decreed by the Government of Spain. In addition, seven complaints have been registered for breaching the entry or exit limitation of Castilla-La Mancha, while the sanctions for breaching the maximum quota of six people per group has risen to 11.

The Local Police also issued a report to a local for serving alcohol at the bar, when it is not allowed to use it. This sanction occurred in the round of inspections carried out by agents both in bars and restaurants, as well as in terraces, in which they check that the capacity and distances established between tables are met, and with other provisions of the competent authority in public health. To this complaint must be added another for the sale of alcohol outside the permitted hours.

Also, as indicated Juan José Pérez del Pino, the terraces located on public roads under walls or awning structures have been inspected, since up to six cases have been detected in which these spaces did not comply with the openings stipulated by law, since they cannot be spaces closed by their four walls no ventilation. These six minutes have been drawn up mainly on terraces of the Polygon.

In addition, the Councilor for Citizen Security has commented that areas and elements of common use have been sealed in the shopping centers of the municipality of Toledo in which capacity have also been controlled, not exceeding the maximum allowed by current regulations. However, Local Police had to intervene in the supermarket of the Parque Comercial Abadía in the face of an episode of violence from a customer who refused to wear a mask.

Public influx in the Historic Center

On the other hand, Juan José Pérez del Pino has shared with the media data on the occupation of the car parks in the Old Town, specifically the Miradero and Corralillo de San Miguel facilities, in which from Friday to Sunday there has been a lower number of places in use compared to the same date in 2019, so the number of visitors to the Historic Center, has said, this weekend has been below the figures recorded a year ago.

“It is true that a greater influx of public has been noticed in the Historic Center on Saturday afternoon and night if we compare it with recent weekends, but not with respect to this same weekend of previous years”, commented the mayor, in addition to launching a message of responsibility so that citizens enjoy the Christmas artistic lighting not only on the weekend, but any day until next January 6.

In addition to this recommendation and given the circumstances of the Covid-19 and the recommendation to avoid crowds of the public, the Councilor for Citizen Security has advanced that a series of alternative plans and itineraries are being developed for the coming weekends and days holidays to control the flows of pedestrians in the Historic Center in favor of the safety of citizens against the pandemic.
