Brazil exceeds 570,000 deaths from coronavirus

Brazil has exceeded 570,000 deaths from coronavirus this Tuesday, lamenting 1,106 new victims of the disease in the last day.

The Ministry of Health has also registered 37,613 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 20,416,183 accumulated positives and the number of deaths to 570,598.

Regarding the vaccination plan, more than 50 percent of the population in Brazil has received at least one dose of the drug against the disease and about 25 percent the full schedule.


Colombia adds 108 deaths and 3,247 new cases of Covid-19

Colombia added 108 deaths from covid-19 on Tuesday, bringing the number of fatalities from the pandemic to 123,688, and 3,247 new infections, which put the number of people who have contracted the disease in the country at 4,874,169.

According to the daily report of the Ministry of Health, 37,410 cases are still active, corresponding to 0.76% of the total reported coronavirus infections in Colombia.

On the other hand, on Monday 98,188 vaccines against covid-19 were applied, of which 25,724 correspond to second doses and 1,532 to that of the Janssen single-dose.


Mexico adds 877 new deaths, the highest number during the third wave

The Ministry of Health of Mexico reported 877 new deaths on Tuesday to reach 249,529, the highest daily figure during the third wave of the pandemic, in addition to 14,814 new cases of covid-19 for a total of 3,123,252 infections.

In the middle of the third wave of infections, Mexico last week presented the four days with the most cases of the entire pandemic. Last Thursday it reported 24,975 -the historical maximum-, while on Saturday it reported 23,642, on Friday 22,758 and Wednesday 22,711.

With these records, Mexico remains the fourth country in the world with the most deaths from covid-19, behind the United States, Brazil and India, and the fifteenth in number of confirmed infections, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.


Uruguay adds 133 new cases of Covid-19 and three deaths

Uruguay registered 133 new cases on Tuesday in 10,453 analyzes and three deaths with a coronavirus diagnosis, as reflected in its daily report by the National Emergency System (Sinae).

A 41-year-old man and two 44 and 78-year-old women from Montevideo lost their lives during this day, in which the death toll from the disease rose to 6,007 since December 13, 2020, when the health emergency was declared in the South American country.

In this way, Uruguay adds, since the beginning of the crisis, 383,505 cases of covid-19, of which 1,368 are people who are suffering from the disease, 25 of these admitted to intensive treatment centers (ICS).


Singapore pays € 624,000 in compensation for coronavirus vaccine side effects

The Government of Singapore has paid 624,000 euros in compensation to a total of 144 people who suffered side effects after receiving the coronavirus vaccine, including a child under 16 who had a heart attack.

In the case of this young man, who suffered a heart attack while doing sports a week after receiving the vaccine, the Ministry of Health has reported that the family has received compensation of 141,000 euros, reports the local newspaper ‘Today’.

The boy developed severe acute myocarditis, which led to cardiac arrest. He is in rehabilitation and the authorities anticipate that he will be discharged next week.
