The Generalitat approves this Saturday the restrictions for the holidays

The Generalitat Valenciana will officially decide this Saturday the new restrictions to stop the spread of coronavirus that, as ABC has been reporting, they will toughen measurements for Christmas agreed in the Interterritorial Health Council in aspects such as perimeter confinement, curfew hours or social meetings.

To this end, the Valencian Government brings together this Saturday, December 5, the interdepartmental commission for action against the Covid-19 to study the new measures and restrictions for the rest of December and the Christmas holidays based on epidemiological reports, as well as to analyze the situation of nightlife, the curfew and the perimeter closure of the Valencian Community.

The current restrictions are in effect until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, December 9. Consequently, the Generalitat will publish two new decrees to extend the measures as of Thursday, December 10.

The vice president of the Generalitat, Mónica Oltra, recalled that the interdepartmental, which had not met since March 23, was one of the decisions that she agreed on in her meeting on Wednesday with President Ximo Puig after the discrepancies between the two and between the PSPV and Compromís.

This body will be the forum where the possibility of apply new measures or alleviate some current ones, convened “in record time” and from now on with periodicity marked by the situation of the coronavirus pandemic.

Oltra has rejected that a calendar because “this virus gives us many surprises” and has justified that it has not met since the beginning of the pandemic because it was a very complicated moment of total confinement. “The relevant thing is that it meets tomorrow,” he has settled.

Faced with the request to reopen nightlife, the vice president has guaranteed that all the measures to be adopted at this time will be analyzed at the interdepartmental office and that she will present her position based on the technical reports. “Epidemiological data are what ultimately determine political decisions,” he remarked.

At the same time, the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI) is reinforced with the incorporation of the Ministries of Education and Inclusive Policies, something that was also agreed with Puig. This body “had a marked appearance of purely emergency and now it opens a little to the spaces that can be vulnerable and of course are strategic”, children and the elderly and dependents.

And regarding the figure of the relative authorized by the Ministry of Health for family reunions for Christmas, Oltra recalled that is regulated in the Civil Code although people “do not have to know” what it means, so they have asked the Government to define it clearly to avoid “confusion”.

In any case, the Minister of Inclusive Policies also recalled that it is necessary to comply with social distance, with the mandatory use of a mask and continuous ventilation and hygiene. “We cannot put it aside, and more at this time, we cannot lower our guard. Being with the people we love is not a vaccine,” he stressed.
