The Formula Kite Spain Series 2021 will begin on April 2 in the waters of the S’Arenal de Mallorca Yacht Club and will last until the 4th. A week later the most important Kite Foil circuit in Europe will move to Palamós where the second round of the Olympic category competition from April 9 to 11.
The organization of the FKSS and the Mallorcan club have decided this change of dates to occupy the space that now leaves the postponement of the prestigious SAR Princesa Sofía Trophy that brings together all the Olympic classes and hundreds of first-rate sailors in S’Arenal world order. Palamós remains in the same week that it was initially presented, with which it is possible to do two tests in one go ‘back to back’. The test is held from Platja Gran and has the backing of CN Costa Brava & CV Palamós.
The possibility of doing two tests on two consecutive weekends is widely accepted by international sailors who thus have the possibility of much better amortization of trips from their countries of origin. In addition, the week after Palamós another Kite Foil test is held in Hyeres (France), so they can chain three weeks of competition at the highest world level.
Valencia and Castellón also change their date
The dates of the regattas in Valencia and Castellón have also been changed. From May 7 to 9, the third round of the 2021 calendar of the FKSS will be held in the waters of the Real Club Náutico de Valencia (Pinedo Beach) and, although there are still some fringes to close, the following weekend will be held the test in Castellón (Playa del Gurugú) with the support of the City Council and the Eolo Sports Club.
Again two consecutive tests that will be very practical for the best European sailors to prepare for the Individual European Championship that will be held the following weekend in Montpelier (France).
The last two events of the calendar remain on their dates. Formentera will be from October 22 to 24 while the final test of Tarifa will be held from December 9 to 12.
Registration for the first two events of the season (Arenal and Palamós) will open this week on the competition’s website. For early risers, the organization has planned a price of 75 euros, the same as last year, but for those who sign up in the last two weeks before the test, that is, after March 20 in the case of Mallorca the fee rises to 150 euros.
Support in transportation
The FKSS organization is also finalizing a new service for sailors and that is to carry the equipment from one venue to another in case of ‘back to back’. Thus, it works so that sailors can leave their equipment in the peninsula to be taken to Mallorca and from there directly to Palamós. Competitors do not have to worry about carrying the equipment with them and can travel lighter in luggage and at a much more affordable price.
