The ‘Pedro Almodóvar’ Auditorium in Puertollano was the scene of the delivery of the
Castilla-La Mancha Grand Selection Awards,

The Gran Selección 2021 award for the different quality sparkling wine from Castilla-La Mancha has gone to ‘Alcardet Brut 18’ from the Cooperativa Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Villanueva de Alcardete (Toledo), belonging to the quality brand Cueva.

The best cheese in the world

In the Manchego cheese category of the PDO Queso Manchego, the Great Selection of semi-cured and cured cheese of differentiated quality has gone to the ‘El Cigüela’ brand of the Palomares de La Puebla de Almoradiel Livestock Association (Toledo), taking a double accolade home. The award for the best Serrano ham, one of the quality figures of Castilla-La Mancha, with a Guaranteed Traditional Specialty (TSG), has been awarded to the Jaseto Reserva brand, from Jamones El Chato, from Torrijos (Toledo).

Straight from the ground: garlic, melon and eggplant

This afternoon the best Aubergine from Almagro has also been awarded, which has gone to the brand ‘Canned Footwear’ of Hijos de Isidoro Calzado SL, of the IGP Berenjena de Almagro, based in Bolaños de Calatrava (Ciudad Real).

And the prize Great Selection 2021 for The best melon in La Mancha has been for the JJF brand, from Agrícola José Juan Francisco SL from Llanos del Caudillo (Ciudad Real).

Continuing with unique products, the best purple garlic from Las Pedroñeras has gone to La Veguilla, from Ajos La Veguilla, from Las Pedroñeras (Cuenca), protected by the PGI Ajo Morado de Las Pedroñeras.

Quality meat

In this XXXII edition of the Grand Selection, the award for the best lamb of differentiated quality has been to Los Montejano, from the Matadero Los Montejano SL in Quintanar de la Orden (Toledo), belonging to the PGI Cordero Manchego.

For products made from game meat, the award has been given to the Embutidos Naranjo brand of Embutidos Naranjo SL, located in Bolaños de Calatrava (Ciudad Real).

In the category for the best Pan de Cruz Gran Selección 2021, this year’s award went to ‘Pan Blanco Sobao’ from Beamud Ortega, from Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real), belonging to the PGI Pan de Cruz de Ciudad Real.
