The Government of Castilla-La Mancha, through the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, and the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival Foundation have selected the proposals that will benefit from aid for theatrical production on classical texts by the Castilian-La Mancha companies.
Last Tuesday, December 1, the evaluation commission for production aid was held online. Among the 18 proposals receivedTwo were chosen and one was a reserve in case any of the selected ones could not be produced, as reported by the Board in a press release.
After evaluating all the projects received, the commission agreed that the chosen proposals are: Love is more maze, by Sor Juana Inés De La Cruz, directed by Claudio Hochman, from the company Al Hiro Theater (Albacete); Francisca de Pedraza, by Borja Rodríguez F, directed by Fredeswinda Gijón, from the company Producciones 099 (Daimiel, Ciudad Real); and as a reservation: Odds and ends. Or of lice and actors, by José Sanchís Sinisterra ‘, directed by Juan Cifuentes, a co-production of Ambulantes Teatro and Teatro Cachivaches (Albacete).
The two proposals will premiere their stage works in the 44th edition of the Festival and will obtain the maximum support and maximum diffusion from the Almagro Festival team, causing their diffusion in the media and transferring their works to different festivals, conferences and contests that are on the theater of the Golden Age are celebrated internationally.
The selected projects will receive an aid to the production, contributed by the Meeting of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha; and a cachet for the premiere performance in Almagro, which will be provided by the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival Foundation. The acceptance of the companies, as well as the amount of the grants awarded, will be published soon on the festival’s website, www.festivaldealmagro.com.
This production aid initiative, which has had the support and collaboration of the Castilla-La Mancha Community Board, is part of the mission of the Almagro Festival Foundation to induce and stimulate creation around the heritage of the Siglo de Oro, with an open, feminist, Americanist, accessible and inclusive look. Mission that is intensely developed throughout the world and also in the different territories of the national geography.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival Foundation opened on September 25 the deadline for submitting proposals to aid in the production of artistic proposals from the Golden Age. Until November 2, the Theater companies or producers have been able to present their proposals.
With this initiative, the Junta and the Almagro Festival collaborate and promote the production of two plays that will be premiered in the next edition of the Festival. Two works that will take the seal of quality and projection that every representation receives when passing through the most international exhibition of Castilla-La Mancha.
In this call, the three legs involved have been the companies, which present projects that have to do with the repertoire of the Golden Age, also defending the reading of the Golden Age of this Americanist, feminist, accessible and inclusive Festival; and there has been a double commitment of support from the Board to the production of these shows, and from the Festival to program them.
